Overview[]

This chapter is from the perspective of Connor.

Relationship Changes[]

Hank[]

  • Connor died in "On the Run" Relationship down
  • Picking "apologize for behavior" when talking to Hank in front of the Chicken Feed Relationship up
  • Picking "cholesterol" when talking to Hank at the table Relationship up
  • Picking "company" when talking to Hank at the table Relationship up
  • Picking "lie" when Hank asks if Connor has "done his homework" Relationship down
  • Picking "cold" when Hank asks for Connor's conclusion Relationship down
  • Picking "sincere" or "psychological" when Hank asks for Connor's conclusion Relationship up
  • Saving him instead of pursuing Rupert Relationship largeup
  • Continuing to chase Rupert instead of saving him Relationship largedown
  • Do nothing during the choice to save Hank or chase Rupert Relationship largedown x2

Relationship decrease with Hank is much bigger than when choosing to chase Rupert (enough to move from Friend to Tense/Hostile)

Software Instability[]

  • Connor falls to his death Relationship down
  • Connor gets chopped by a plow Relationship down
  • Connor dies by falling off the ladder Relationship down x2
  • Saving Hank Relationship largeup
  • Continue chasing Rupert Relationship largedown
  • Do nothing during the choice to save Hank or chase Rupert Relationship largedown x2

Attention to Detail[]

Things you can do with little to no story impact:

  • Interesting things Connor can investigate throughout the chapter, incidental to any goal.
    • A pile of feathers in the hall
    • Rupert's fake ID
    • Rupert's jacket (he put his initials in it)
    • A closet with half a dozen pigeons stuck inside
    • A pack of birdseed
    • Opening his empty (& likely unpowered) refrigerator

Notes[]

  • This chapter bears a few similarities to the chapter "Nathaniel" from another Quantic Dream game Heavy Rain.
    • Both Nathaniel Williams and Rupert live alone in an apartment that is either old or condemned.
    • Both Rupert and Nathaniel have symbols of their spiritual beliefs written on the walls (rA9 for Rupert and Jesus Christ for Nathaniel).
    • Both Connor and Norman Jayden first knock on the door before their partners decide to kick the door down.
  • The dialogue option “HIGHWAY” is only available if Connor obeyed Hank in On the Run
  • If Connor failed to save Emma in The Hostage when Hank asks if he’s ever dealt with deviants before, Connor will have option to tell the truth or lie.
  • Choosing “SINCERE” or “PSYCHOLOGICAL” when Hank ask Connor what his conclusion is will both have a small increase however choosing “SINCERE” is known to raise the relationship status higher.
  • Hank will talk or stay silent when opening the window.
  • If you wait a while Hank will notice the RT jacket.
  • If Connor didn’t examine the jacket yet, Hank will take his place in reading the initials.
  • The rap song playing in background resembles a word "trap" in it - possibly referencing how both Connor & Hank are trapped in their situation, or hinting at the whole uncertainty of Androids | Deviants situation overall.
  • Hank can also open the bird closet.
  • Hank and Connor can talk about “ornithophobia” (a made up word) meaning Hank has an irrational fear of birds.
  • While looking around Hank can talk about how not many people read regular books anymore.
  • Similarly Hank can be shocked about Rupert feeding the pigeons.
  • There is a small dialogue where Hank can tell you he found something in the sink if Connor hasn’t already examined it.
  • If Hank is out of the room when finding the diary, Hank doesn't say anything but if he is present he'll ask if you found something.
  • If you wait long enough Hank will want to leave, giving the option to “LEAVE” or “STAY”, if you choose "STAY" Hank will be annoyed but will agree to give Connor two minutes. In addition he’ll jokingly tell Connor to hurry before he dies of an asthma attack.
  • If Connor waits before opening the door when Rupert runs, Connor will open the door and find that Rupert is gone.
  • If Connor dies, Hank will say his famous “ARGH, JESUS CHRIST!” quote.
  • If you lose sight of Rupert, Hank will console Connor and assure him that everyone will fail occasionally.
  • If Connor fails to jump over the cart, a worker will ask him if he’s okay.
  • If you fail to jump on the edge, Connor will grab on the edge and will either fall or pull himself up.
  • If Connor fails to pull himself up, he will fall to his death. Hank will watch Connor die, and the camera will show Connor collapsing into a pile.
  • If you run into the door, Connor will put his hand on the window and go right.
  • There is another route to follow Rupert which is slower but higher.
  • If you go onto the balcony, Connor can bump into people.
  • Failing to dodge the window will cause Connor to fall into a corn garden and try to avoid a plow, and then hop back on the train.
  • If Connor doesn’t get up, the plow will chop him up, Hank will watch the events and the camera will show the sprinklers turning on.
  • Failing the QTE when jumping on the train will cause Connor to tumble
  • Connor can lose track of Rupert in various different locations.
  • Failing to jump on the ladder will result in Connor having to pull himself up on to it.
  • Falling off the ladder will double the software instability decrease.
  • It is possible to walk on the roof.
  • If Connor falls off the ladder, Hank will watch the events and then camera will show a view of the train passing by.
  • Connor can lose sight of Rupert in the hallway, the rooftop, the lower wheat field, the higher wheat field, the storage depot, the hydroponics, the flower garden, the terrac, the vegetables garden (if Connor fell in), the sprinklers, the construction area, the greenhouse rooftop, the greenhouse interior, and the corn field. If each scene whilst having the same script has different animations at the end.
  • Losing track of Rupert in the hallway plays almost the same as losing him in the rooftop but with an added scene of Connor rushing and opening the door.
  • If you lose track of Rupert in the hydroponics, some androids in the background remain static, a similar scenario happens if Connor loses Rupert in the sprinklers. Both of which are pretty humorous.
  • There is a third balanced path on the higher wheat field area.
  • Choosing the slower or dangerous paths will still lead to Rupert pushing Hank.
  • Pursuing Rupert can decrease your relationship status with Hank from “Friend” to “Hostile/Tense”. It can also go down to “Neutral/Warm”.

  1. If Connor had chosen to obey Hank's order to stay behind the fence in On the Run, the "Highway" dialogue option will be unlocked.
